As allowed by the Bylaws of Legal Aid of North Carolina, the current Board of Directors has established an Executive Committee and eight standing committees:

Private Attorney Involvement Committee
Strategic Planning Committee

These committees meet periodically to review issues of special importance and provide recommendations to the Board of Directors. The 2005-06 Board of Director Committee Assignments are as follows:

Mission Statement for Client Affairs Committee
The Mission of the Client Affairs Committee is to represent and support the clients in all five regions of the State of North Carolina by:
* Being a liaison between the North Carolina Clients Council and
the Legal Aid of North Carolina Board;
* Assuring clients involvement in the policy making process and
to foster the use of regional clients councils as an ongoing
resource in achieving solutions to issues; and
* Assuring that the services delivered are appropriate, relevant
and of the highest quality.

Mission Statement for Operations/Personnel Committee
The Operations/Personnel Committee of Legal Aid of North Carolina will perform the following tasks to ensure that field offices are in compliance with LSC regulations and LANC policies as well as to ensure that quality legal work, consistent with designated priorities and case acceptance criteria, is being performed for eligible clients:
* review relevant policies related to the workings of the field offices;
* recommend the adoption of policies;
* cause period evaluations of field offices to be performed; and
* carry out any other tasks assigned by the LANC Chair.
The role of the Personnel Committee is to ensure that the work environment is friendly, that employees have the opportunity to grow in their jobs, that the work is fulfilling, that the employees are treated fairly, that all employment laws are followed and that there is respect and trust among and between employees and management.

Mission Statement for Strategic Planning Committee
To consider how best to marshal and deploy our resources to most effectively meet the needs of our client populations, focusing this process on recommendations for mid- to long-term actions and policies with respect to organization, policies, advocacy and allocation; to coordinate our plans with the works and plans of other providers of legal services to the poor; and to consider how best to increase the resources available to LANC.
