Resolution regarding
Charlotte Gail Blake
June 27, 2003
WHEREAS, Charlotte Gail Blake became employed with Legal Services
of the Blue Ridge, Boone, North Carolina as a staff attorney in May 1987, and
was promoted to Program Director in January 1999 serving in that capacity until
the creation of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc., where she served as the
Senior Managing Attorney for the Legal Aid of North Carolina – Boone Office
until her resignation;
WHEREAS, Charlotte Gail Blake has represented clients in all types
of civil cases in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey
counties and successfully argued two appellate cases, at times, being the sole
legal aid attorney in this seven county area and being recognized as the
Outstanding Legal Services Attorney of the Year in 1993 by the North Carolina
Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Gail Blake has assumed leadership roles in the
Watauga County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and various
community organizations during those years of service; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Gail Blake has never wavered in her dedication
to the mission, spirit and clients of legal services during those years of
service as an attorney and manager;
NOW THEREFORE, let it be RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of
Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. expresses its deepest gratitude to Charlotte
Gail Blake for her exemplary contributions and dedicated service to the legal
services community.
