Resolution regarding support of American Bar Association's
"Civil Gideon Resolution"
December 4, 2009
Resolved, That the Board of Directors
of Legal Aid of North Carolina supports the American Bar Association
House of Delegate's resolution, which read as follows:
"RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association urges federal, state,
and federal governments to provide legal counsel as a matter of
right at public expense to low-income persons in those categories of
adversarial proceedings where basic human needs are at stake, such
as those involving shelter, sustenance, safety, health or child
custody, as determined by each jurisdiction."
[Unanimously approved by the ABA House of Delegates August 1, 2006.]
