Legal Aid celebrates pro bono efforts in Winston Salem

On Thursday, March 6, 2008, the Winston-Salem office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. held a reception to recognize and celebrate the pro bono efforts of our local attorneys.  J

Janet Ward Black, the featured guest, gave a touching speech extolling the virtues of pro bono work and related how this work allows us to be ambassadors for the legal community. 

Awards were given out as follows:

    
Reginald Combs - Most Housing/Consumer Cases Taken
          Combs
recently established his own law firm, but welcomes
          cases from Legal Aid of NC.

     Richard "Dick" Crouse - Most Family Law Cases Taken
       
  Crouse is a retired lawyer who is willing to take  50-B cases
           and has taken many of our DV cases.

    
Katherine "Katie" Bosken - Pro bono Attorney of the Year
          Bosken
has taken a variety of cases for Legal Aid, including
          GAL, 50-B, housing, and consumer cases, and is always willing
          to help Legal Aid of NC in many different ways.

     Kilpatrick Stockton - Pro bono Law Firm of the Year  
         
Kilpatrick Stockton encourages its attorneys to do pro bono
          work. Kilpatrick allows 50 hours of pro bono work to be
          included in billable hours, which helps enable its attorneys to
          sacrifice their time to our cause. 

Each pro bono attorney received a certificate and a token of our appreciation.
