Legal Aid Bowl-a-Thon to be held in Boone on Saturday, November 18
(Boone, NC) – Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) will hold a “Bowl-a-Thon” at
the Boone Bowling Center in Boone on Saturday, November 18, at 3:00PM and
5:00PM.
“This is a fundraiser event in support of Legal Aid of North Carolina’s efforts to
provide more and better advocacy for our client population,” said Lisa Van
Gilder, chair of the Legal Aid Bowl-a-Thon and PAI
coordinator for
LANC’s
Boone Office. “It’s also a networking and fun event for our
community.”
The Legal Aid Bowl-a-Thon will serve as the kickoff
event for the LANC-Boone Office’s annual Access to Justice Campaign,
which raise funds to provide free legal services for low-income people in civil
matters in seven-county area surrounding Boone. The LANC-Boone office
serves Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey counties.
“Traditionally the legal community has provided strong support of Legal Aid
in our area, including both financial donations and pro bono legal services,”
noted Van Gilder. “The Bowl-a-Thon will provide an opportunity for our
volunteers and Legal Aid staff to share a few fun hours together while also
supporting efforts to provide free legal services to low-income people in the
Blue Ridge area.”
Law firms and community organization can reserve an entire bowling lane for
up to eleven people over two hours for a donation of $250. Individuals can
also register and bowl with others at the event. Registration for a
two-hour session for an individuals is $25. Sponsorships are also
available.
The two-hour sessions for the Legal Aid Bowl-a-Thon will be held
3:00-5:00PM and 5:00-7:00PM.
