Lisa Morgan elected to board of directors of Legal Aid of North Carolina
(Raleigh, NC) –
Lisa Morgan of Durham was elected for a three-year term to
the
board of
directors
of Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) during the 2006 LANC Annual
Meeting in Atlantic Beach, N.C.
Morgan will serve on the LANC Board as the representative from the
NC Association of Black Lawyers.
Morgan is an attorney and the director of career services at the
NC Central University
(NCCU) School of Law. She is a 1986 graduate of
the
Howard University School of Law
School. She also attended
the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill where she majored in Criminal Justice.
Morgan has served as a staff attorney at Land Loss Prevention
Project in Durham, NC, a staff attorney for
North State Legal Services in Hillsborough, N.C
and an adjunct in the NCCU Law
School's Writing Program.
Morgan has also served
on the Legal Services of NC Board of Directors (Chair); NC
Association of Black Lawyers; Board of Directors of the NC Bar
Association (NCBA); Triangle Association of Legal Recruitment
Administrators; NCBA Minorities in the Profession Committee; NCBA
Race Relations Commission; Durham Public Schools Budget Advisory
Committee, National Association for Law Placement Employment
Diversity and Opportunity Committee and Nominating Committee.
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide,
nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil
matters to eligible, low-income people in all 100 counties in North
Carolina through 24, geographically located offices in North
Carolina. LANC’s clients typically have an annual income of 125% or
less of the federally established poverty levels. In 2005, LANC
closed more than 19,000 cases across North Carolina.
