Celeste M. Harris elected to board of directors of Legal Aid of NC

(Raleigh, NC) – Celeste M. Harris of Winston-Salem was elected for a three-year term to the board of directors of Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) during the 2007 LANC Annual Meeting in Asheville, N.C.

Harris will serve on the LANC Board as a representative from the NC Association of Women Attorneys.

Harris is an attorney and partner in the law firm of Maynard & Harris, PLLC, in Winston-Salem, and is a 1991 graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law.  She also was a registered nurse and a 1983 graduate of University of Missouri School with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Among her professional associations, Harris is a member of the NC Association of Women Attorneys, the NC Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Forsyth County Bar Association, American Association of Nurse Attorneys and the American Association for Justice.

Harris has served as chair of the Local Advisory Board for the Legal Aid of North Carolina-Winston Salem Office.  She is a frequent speaker for continuing legal education (CLE) and community programs, focusing primarily on worker’s compensation and medical legal issues.

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to eligible, low-income people in all 100 counties in North Carolina through 24, geographically located offices in North Carolina.  LANC’s clients typically have an annual income of 125% or less of the federally established poverty levels.
