Alice Tejada elected to board of directors of Legal Aid of NC

(Raleigh,
NC) –
Alice Tejada of Raleigh was elected
for a three-year term to the
board of directors of
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
during the 2007 LANC Annual Meeting in Asheville, N.C.
Tejada will serve on the LANC Board as a
representative from the NC Bar Association.
Tejada is an attorney in the law firm of
Scudder & Hedrick in Raleigh, and
is a 1996 graduate of the American University, Washington College of
Law.
Among her professional affiliations, Tejada is a member of the NC
Academy of Trial lawyers, Workers' Compensation Section, Employment
Law Section and Hispanic/Latino Issues Section; NC Bar Association;
and the NC Association of Women Attorneys.
Tejada was a staff attorney in
LANC Farmworker Unit and its
predecessors for six years.
Tejada has served on the boards of the North Carolina ACLU, NC
Occupational Safety & Health Project, the NC Academy of Trial
Lawyers and Working Films. She has also served as a chair of the
Workers' Compensation Committee of the Office of Minority Affairs of
the NC Department of Health & Human Services.
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services
in civil matters to eligible, low-income people in all 100 counties
in North Carolina through 24, geographically located offices in
North Carolina. LANC’s clients typically have an annual income
of 125% or less of the federally established poverty levels.
