NC) – Cristina Fernandez of Durham was elected to the board of
directors of
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) at its Spring meeting in
Durham, NC.
Fernandez will serve on the LANC Board as a representative from the
NC Bar Association Latino Affairs Committee.
Fernandez is Vice President and Associate General Counsel with
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
in Research Triangle Park, NC. She is responsible for providing
legal counsel for GlaxoSmithKline, a pharmaceutical company.
Fernandez concentrates her practice on health care law matters.
Fernandez is a 1985 graduate of the University of Georgia School of
Law. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and
Georgia.
Legal Aid of
North Carolina
(LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides
free legal services in civil matters to eligible, low-income people
in all 100 counties in North Carolina through 24, geographically
located offices in North Carolina. LANC’s clients typically have an
annual income of 125% or less of the federally established poverty
levels. In 2010, LANC closed approximately 25,000 cases across North
