Community Education
The Community Education Is an important component of the Farmworker Unit. During
the year we offer
presentations and workshops to meet the interests of organizations and
individuals who want to know more about farmworkers in North Carolina.
Our presentations may include slide shows, speakers, videos and other formats that are tailored to meet the interests of
the host.
Examples of organizations that have invited us to speak:
-
Churches who honor the hard work of farmworkers and
advocate on their behalf.
-
College organizations interested in labor and justice issues
-
Farmworker and Latino advocacy groups interested in farmworker legal issues
-
Migrant Health Programs who see the need of the farmworkers and lack of legal education
We also offer training on farmworker legal protections to
service and advocacy organizations in the form of workshops.
In the past we have provided training on the following topics:
Basics of Farmworker Law ( This include
AWPA, FLSA, REDA, ETC)
Worker's Compensation
Pesticide Regulations and Farmwork
Legal Rights of H2A workers (Foreign Temporary Agricultural Workers)
