Background:

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is seeking a Staff Attorney to work in its Greensboro office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons in Guilford, Davidson, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham and Rowan counties of North Carolina.  LANC is a statewide, nonprofit [501(c)(3)] law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to those households whose income falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. 

Responsibilities & Duties:

Interviewing and providing legal representation in civil matters to low-income clients; handling cases in civil law matters, including Family, Employment, Housing, Consumer, Public Benefits and other areas; representing Legal Aid of NC’s clients in judicial and administrative hearings; providing outreach and legal education; and other areas that might be assigned.                                             

Qualifications:

NC State Bar license and demonstrated commitment to legal advocacy for the poor.  Experience working with low-income people a plus.

Salary:

$39,000+ DOE. Excellent benefits package. Relaxed office atmosphere.
