Aid of North Carolina
(LANC) is seeking a
Staff Attorney to work in its
Raleigh Office, which provides free legal assistance in civil
matters to low-income persons in Wake County, North Carolina.
LANC is a statewide, nonprofit (501-c-3) law firm that provides free
legal services in civil matters to those households whose income
falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Providing legal representation and advice
to low-income clients; representing eligible clients in a variety of
legal matters, with emphasis on bankruptcies, home mortgage
foreclosures, other consumer matters, and housing issues; providing
outreach and legal education; and other responsibilities
that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
North Carolina Bar license. The
ability to communicate effectively with government officials,
adversaries and clients; a commitment to assist low-income people;
and other skills sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the
job. Preference for proficiency in
Spanish. No prior legal work experience is
necessary. Preference will be given to applicants with prior
experience working with low-income people.
Salary:
$39,000+ DOE. Excellent benefits package.
