Background:

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is seeking a full-time staff attorney to work in its Gastonia office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons in Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties of North Carolina.  LANC is a statewide, nonprofit [501(c)(3)] law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to those households whose income falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Interviewing and providing legal representation and advice to victims of domestic violence.  Working with domestic violence programs to improve operations of local judicial systems for domestic violence victims.  Providing outreach and education; and other responsibilities that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

North Carolina Bar license.  Applicant also must have a demonstrated commitment to legal advocacy for the poor; litigation experience preferred.

Salary:

$40,100.00 annually + DOE.  Excellent benefits package.  Relaxed office atmosphere.
