Background:
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
seeks to fill a staff attorney position in its
New Bern office which serves clients primarily in Beaufort,
Carteret, Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties. LANC is a nonprofit
[501(c)(3)], law firm that provides free legal services in civil
matters in all 100 counties of North Carolina to those households
whose income falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Interviewing and providing legal representation and advice to
low-income clients with particular emphasis on consumer law and
housing law. Providing outreach and community legal education;
and other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
North Carolina Bar license. Entry level and experienced
applicants will be considered for this position. Candidates
should have a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and a
desire to work in a collaborative, relaxed and congenial
environment. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not
required.
Salary:
$40,100+D.O.E. Excellent benefits and leave package.
