Legal Aid of North Carolina will host the 2008 North Carolina
Legal Services Conference on April 1-2, 2008 (Tuesday-Wednesday) at
the Sheraton
Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Durham. The 2008

Scholarships from LANC Clients Council
A limited number of scholarships are
available for clients through the
Legal Aid of North Carolina's Clients Council.

Agenda
The 2008 NC Legal Services Conferences
will provide CLE and training opportunities for attorneys,
paralegals, legal services staff and clients. The Conference
will also include an awards luncheon, a Cyber Cafe (Internet access
area), a centralized exhibit hall and multiple networking

Awards Presentations
Nominations
were accepted until January 30, 2008 for
the 2008 Julian Pierce Award for outstanding advocacy ensuring equal
justice for all. The recipient of this award will be announced
during the
2008 North Carolina Legal Services Conference (at the Sheraton
Imperial Hotel, Durham, NC) on April 1-2, 2008.
The
Legal Aid
of NC Clients Council will present its "Community Service
Award" at the 2008 NC Legal Services Conference.
The Community Service Award recognizes a legal aid client or
low-income community leader in
North Carolina who has provided
extraordinary and dedicated service to the equal justice community
and to organizations that promote access to justice for low-income
people.
Additionally, members of the legal services community will be
recognized for their dedicated "Years of Services" of their efforts
to serve the community's clients.
Exhibits
Legal Services programs and offices, nonprofit organizations and
vendors are encouraged to provide educational exhibits at the
Conference. The Exhibit Hall will be strategically placed at
the Conference for maximum exposure, and all breaks will be held in
the Exhibit Hall. Additionally, the "Cyber Cafe" (Internet
Access area) will be in the Exhibit Hall. To apply for

Support of the Conference is vital in our efforts to minimize the
costs and are welcome. Please demonstrate your support of the
legal services community by providing a donation to the Conference.

The 2008 North Carolina Legal Services Statewide Conference
will provide an excellent opportunity for your company or firm to
demonstrate its support of LANC and the state’s legal aid
community. At the Conference your sponsorship will be will
have exposure to the state’s nonprofit law firms (executive
directors, senior managing attorneys, staff attorneys, paralegals
and staff) over a two-day period, as well as to multiple private law
firms, elected officials (e.g., judges) and legal association
professionals from across North
Carolina.
