1. Bring your picture identification, your Social Security
number, and your W-2s and 1099s to the TAP-RC site near you.

2. A volunteer will check your papers and make sure that
you are eligible for free tax preparation.

3. You will be asked to sign a form that gives TAP-RC
permission to scan your papers to the central preparation
office. The volunteer at the TAP-RC site will send your
papers through secure servers to the central preparation site.

4. IRS-certified tax preparers will prepare your tax
return. If possible, you will be connected with the tax
preparer by video so that you can work with them to prepare your
tax return. If video is not available at your location,
the tax preparer will speak with you by phone.

5. Your tax return will be completed and sent back to your
location for your signature. You will be asked to review
the return and sign a Form 8879 which gives TAP-RC permission to
e-file your federal and state returns.

6. If you choose to get your refund by direct deposit,
most refunds are back within 7 to 10 days from the date the
returns are e-filed.
