Background:
Legal Aid of North
Carolina
(LANC) is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to work in
its
Fayetteville office,
which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income
persons in Hoke and Cumberland
Counties of North Carolina. LANC is a statewide,
nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil
matters generally to those households whose income falls below 125%
of the federal poverty guidelines.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Interviewing and providing legal representation in civil
matters to low-income clients; Handling cases in civil law matters,
including domestic violence, family, employment, housing, public
education, consumer, public benefits and other areas; Representing
Legal Aid of NC’s clients in judicial and administrative hearings;
Providing outreach and legal education; and other areas that might
be assigned.
Qualifications:
NC State Bar license and demonstrated commitment to legal
advocacy for the poor Experience in working with low-income
people a plus.
Salary:
$39,000+ DOE. Excellent benefits package. Relaxed office
atmosphere.
