Background:
Legal
Aid of North Carolina
(LANC) is
seeking an Intake specialist/receptionist to work in its
Concord Office, which provides free legal assistance
in civil matters to low-income persons in Anson, Cabarrus, Stanly,
and Union counties of
North Carolina. LANC is a statewide,
nonprofit [501(c)(3)] law firm that provides free legal services in
civil matters to those households whose income falls below 125% of
the federal poverty guidelines.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Answer multi-line phones, greet walk-in visitors and handle
other general receptionist duties. Interview clients to
determine eligibility based on type of legal problem, income and
assets. Refer ineligible clients to other sources of help.
Computer data entry to input client information, report generation,
and other data entry tasks as assigned. Process incoming and
outgoing mail. Transcribe from dictation or handwritten notes.
Maintain case filing system and provide clerical support.
Provide clerical and intake support to Senior Law Project including
services to senior citizens in an additional four counties.
Qualifications:
High school degree/equivalent
Attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Ability to communicate with people in crisis
Excellent organizational, telephone, and conversational skills
Computer experience required
Knowledge of Microsoft word
Experience working with low-income people and in a multi-cultural
setting
Competency in Spanish helpful
Law office experience a plus
Salary:
$21,00.00+ DOE. Excellent benefits
