Legal Aid of North Carolina?
To get free help from Legal Aid of North Carolina, you must:
1. Meet our financial
eligibility guidelines
for family income
and assets.
2. Have a problem that affects your basic needs.
Please note that Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) has limited staff and resources to serve
low-income clients living across North Carolina. The establishment of our
priorities does not indicate that every eligible client with a priority case
will be provided representation by LANC staff. The delivery of services in
a priority case will be dependent upon local case acceptance guidelines, the
availability of services from other sources, financial resources and available
staff, which may vary from time to time. Further, in determining the level
of service to be provided, staff will consider whether a priority case will
involve issues of a non-frivolous nature in accordance with the North Carolina
Rules of Professional Responsibility, whether the value of professional time to
be spent on the case exceeds the economic benefit to the client and whether the
case has a small likelihood of success.
