Legal Aid of North Carolina's Winston-Salem office seeks a staff attorney who will primarily practice in the area of family law/domestic violence. Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide nonprofit law firm that provides free legal help in civil matters to low-income and vulnerable people in all 100 North Carolina counties. Legal Aid's Winston-Salem office serves residents of Alleghany, Ashe, Davie, Forsyth, Iredell, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin counties.
Responsibilities & Duties
Interview and provide legal representation and advice to victims of domestic violence and other low-income clients; work with domestic violence programs and other agencies in order to improve operations of local judicial systems for domestic violence victims; provide outreach and legal education; and fulfill other responsibilities that may be assigned.
North Carolina State Bar License is required. At least two years family law court experience is preferred. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and a desire to work in a collaborative, relaxed and congenial environment. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
$42,100+, depending on experience. Excellent benefits package.
