The Kids are Alright: Zealously Representing Students in Education Matters
Thursday, September 1, 2016
12-1:30 p.m. Eastern
Approved by State Bar for 1.5 hours of general CLE credit
Free for Legal Aid employees and volunteers. $50 for everyone else.
This webinar will train youth attorneys and advocates to zealously represent students in education-related matters, focusing most closely on school discipline, special education, enrollment, and bullying issues. The aim of the training will be to provide advocates with the foundational knowledge necessary to identify the most relevant legal issues in each case, and to equip them with the resources and tools needed to gain the most powerful remedies for students. While this training will be targeted at attorneys, it will also be relevant to non-attorney advocates who are working directly with parents in that it will offer self-advocacy resources that parents can use to enforce their students’ rights.
Presented by attorneys in our Advocates for Children's Services project:
Jennifer Story, Supervising Attorney
Seth Ascher, Lewis Pitts Education Justice Legal Fellow
Aisha Forte, Staff Attorney
