Chris Jackson |
(Raleigh, NC) – One of the most prominent law firms in the southeast,
Kilpatrick Stockton
LLP, is donating the full-time services of one of its attorneys to Legal Aid
of North Carolina.
Chris Jackson,
an attorney with
Kilpatrick Stockton’s Raleigh office, will work with
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) for up to six months through the Ralph
Stockton/Kilpatrick Stockton Fellowship.
Kilpatrick Stockton (KS) will continue to pay Jackson’s salary and
benefits while he works full-time with LANC to provide legal services to
low-income people in Wake County
“This gift is almost unprecedented,” said George Hausen, LANC’s executive
director, “ and continues the strong support KS has shown to LANC in the past.”
Jackson is the second recipient of the
Ralph Stockton/Kilpatrick Stockton Fellowship program in North
Carolina, which also provided a fellow for the LANC-Charlotte Office during
2002-04.
“This fellowship is part of Kilpatrick Stockton’s commitment to providing
pro bono legal services in the communities in which we practice,” said Debbie
Segal, Pro Bono Partner for KS. “It is a great honor to be
chosen for a Fellowship, and is recognition of the tremendous work Chris has
done thus far for billable and pro bono clients at Kilpatrick Stockton.”
The fellowship will be beneficial to both LANC and KS.
LANC will add another high quality attorney to its staff over the next
several months. In turn,
Jackson
will bring expertise about legal aid cases back to the Raleigh
KS office.
“We are thrilled to again be the host organization for this extraordinary
contribution by Kilpatrick Stockton,” added Hausen.
“At the present time, no other law firm in North Carolina has
established a fellowship such as this.
This is a particularly effective way for the private bar to support us.”
