How You Can Help!
  Advocates for Children's Services

Every effort counts!

Do what you can to ensure the voices of our children are heard . . .

Immediately report instances of suspected abuse or neglect.
Educate yourself on children’s issues.
Begin a dialogue with your family and friends on children’s rights.
Demand that your legislators adequately fund services for children.
Become a Guardian ad Litem, vigorously representing the interest of a child
  in court.
Donate to a children’s organization.
Teach your own children advocacy skills and involve them in your efforts
to improve the lives of children everywhere.
Encourage others to get involved.
When you hear of a child going to court because he was mistreated by
the system that is supposed to protect him, attend the court proceedings
  to show him support.

For Professionals:

Talk to a child before making a decision that will affect him. If you
disagree with what the child wants, counsel him.  Don’t just discount
  his/her opinion.
Don’t make excuses for not providing a child with all of the services
  to which he is entitled.
Demand that legislators adequately fund services for children.
Carefully consider the wording of your policies and the materials you
produce/use.  Be sure they reflect consideration of the child as an individual.
