The Farmworker Unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina was established to
meet the special legal needs of migrant and seasonal farmworkers in North
Carolina. The Farmworker Unit and its predecessor organization, Farmworker
Legal Services of North Carolina, have defended the civil rights of
farmworkers for over 20 years.
Through legal representation and client advocacy, Legal Aid of North Carolina's
Farmworker Unit staff strives to ensure that farmworkers receive equal
protection under the law. The Unit addresses the legal needs of
farmworkers through several program initiatives, including:
- * Legal representation of farmworkers and their families in civil
matters;
- * Outreach and education of farmworkers and their families in civil
matters; and
- * Community education to the public about farmworker issues.
