Background:

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is seeking two (2) full-time staff attorneys to work in its Fayetteville Office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income clients in Cumberland and Hoke counties.  LANC is a statewide, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) law firm that generally provides free legal services in civil matters in all 100 counties of North Carolina to those households whose income primarily falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Responsibilities & Duties:

The selected applicant will interview, advise and represent low-income clients in civil matters; provide outreach and community legal education in the LANC-Fayetteville Office’s service area; represent LANC’s clients in judicial and administrative hearings; and perform other related responsibilities that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina.  We are looking for a highly organized, zealous advocate with a demonstrated commitment to legal advocacy for low-income people.  An appreciation for diversity is essential. High proficiency in Spanish is preferred.  The selected applicant must possess a NC Driver’s License and reliable transportation as travel through the office’s service will be required.

Salary:

$40,100 + D.O.E.; excellent benefits and leave package.
