RE: Open House set for Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Pittsboro Office

(Pittsboro, NC) - Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) will celebrate the opening of its Pittsboro Office with an open house on May 6, 3:00-7:00 PM, at its new office, 929 East Street, in Pittsboro, NC.

“We are inviting the public to visit our Pittsboro Office, meet our staff and learn more about our services,” said LANC’s senior managing attorney in the Pittsboro and Durham offices. “Refreshments will be served, and staff will be available to explain the legal services offered by Legal Aid of North Carolina.”

The LANC-Pittsboro Office serves clients from Alamance, Chatham, Lee, Moore, Orange and Richmond counties.

“Legal Aid had served the area for more than 28 years through its Hillsborough Office,” noted Reyman. “However, with the consolidation of various legal aid programs to form a statewide organization, we decided to close our Hillsborough Office and move its staff to the new Pittsboro Office. The Pittsboro location now provides us with a more central location to serve clients in our new, six-county service area.”

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people through 25, geographically located, primary offices. LANC’s clients typically have an annual income of 125% or less of the federally established poverty levels.

"Basically, legal services programs across the state, with their rich histories and traditions of service, consolidated in mid-2002 as one, statewide law firm," said George R. Hausen, Jr., LANC’s executive director. “We have been able to cut administrative costs, utilize a statewide technology network and more efficiently share expertise, all of which allows us to put more resources into serving our clients and to locate our offices for better access.”

With 100 attorneys, 30 paralegals and a total staff of 230 employees, Legal Aid of North Carolina is one of the largest law firms in North Carolina. In addition, more than 3,000 attorneys from the private bar across the state provide pro bono services for LANC’s eligible clients.

The Legal Aid of North Carolina-Pittsboro office is located one mile east of the Chatham County courthouse. Additional information on the event and directions to the open house are available by calling the Legal Aid of North Carolina-Pittsboro Office, 919-542-0475.
