June 27, 2005 MEDIA RELEASE
(Asheville, NC) – The North Carolina Bar Association has named the Wilmington
law firm of
Block, Crouch & Keeter, LLP
as the 2005 recipient of its 2005 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award for
Smaller Law Firms.
The North
Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) honored Block Crouch & Keeter, LLP on June
24 during the President’s Luncheon of the 107th NCBA Annual Meeting at the Grove
Park Inn in Asheville. NCBA President G. Gray Wilson and NCBA Public
Advisory Committee Chair David D. Daggett made the presentation.
“Block Crouch & Keeter, LLP has a long history of pro bono representation,”
said Wilson during the presentation event. “The culture of this firm
encourages every attorney to contribute to provide access to equal justice.
Because of their continued commitment and a strong willingness to serve, Block
Crouch & Keeter, LLP excels as an example of a smaller law firm’s contributing
to the community and to low-income clients.”
Block Crouch & Keeter, LLP has also participated in a family law clinic and
assisted in incorporating a nonprofit group, Helping Our Latin Americans (HOLA),
that provides outreach to the Hispanic population in southeastern North
Carolina. The Legal Aid of North Carolina–Wilmington Office nominated the Block
Crouch & Keeter, LLP for the NCBA award.
Since 1999, the NCBA has annually presented its Outstanding Pro Bono Service
Award for Smaller Firms to an outstanding law firm employing five to 15

Carolina and annually counts more than 70 percent of the state's practicing
attorneys among its membership.
