James M. Talley, Jr. elected to board of directors of Legal Aid of NC

(Raleigh,
NC) –
James M. Talley, Jr. of Charlotte was
elected for a one-year term to the
board of directors of
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
during the 2008 LANC Annual Meeting in
Pine Knoll Shores, NC.
Talley will serve on the LANC Board as a representative from the
NC IOLTA (NC State Bar Plan for "Interest on Lawyers' Trust
Accounts").
Talley is an attorney and senior partner in the law firm of
Horack,
Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, PA,
in Charlotte, and
concentrates on commercial real estate development, business
formation and operation, and financing for real estate and business
ventures. He is a 1964 graduate
of the University of NC School of Law.
Talley’s professional activities
include serving as President of the NC Bar Association, President
and Chairman of several Legal Services organizations, and as a board
member of the UNC Law Alumni Association and a member of
the Board of Trustees, NC State Bar Plan
for Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts.
Talley was selected by Law &
Politics Magazine as a North Carolina “Super Lawyer” for Real
Estate Law in 2007 and 2008.
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services
in civil matters to eligible, low-income people in all 100 counties
in North Carolina
through 24, geographically located offices in North Carolina. LANC’s clients
typically have an annual income of 125% or less of the federally
established poverty levels. In 2007, LANC closed approximately
23,000 cases across North
