Takeisha Redd named managing attorney of Legal Aid of NC’s Smithfield office

(Smithfield, NC) – Takeisha Redd is the newly appointed managing attorney of the Smithfield office of Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC). 

In her new position, Redd will manage all aspects of the LANC law practice in the Smithfield area and supervise a five-member staff, including three attorneys and a paralegal.

"As always, o
ur top priority at the LANC-Smithfield Office will be to provide quality legal representation for our clients,” said Redd.  “We also will continue to collaborate with local community agencies and to educate the community on legal topics, such that our clients can know their rights and be empowered to make sound decisions.”

Redd noted that the LANC-Smithfield Office has worked tirelessly for more than 30 years to assist the citizens of Harnett, Johnston, and Sampson Counties.

“Legal Aid has often been the last line of defense for the clients that we serve,” said Redd.  “Our law practice has involved the protection of critical needs, such as housing, employment and access to public benefits.  I am honored to be selected to participate in and continue such a rich tradition.”

Redd is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the NC Central School of Law.  During law school she served as a law clerk in the LANC-Raleigh Office and a c
ivil litigation clinician at the LANC-Durham Office.

In 2003, Redd joined the staff of the LANC-Boone Office as a staff attorney.  She transferred to the LANC-Smithfield Office in 2007.

Redd is a member of the NC Bar Association (NCBA) and serves
on the NCBA Law Related Education Committee and the NCBA Minorities in the Profession Committee.  Redd is also a member of the inaugural class of NCBA’s Pathways to Inclusion Leadership Academy.   

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to eligible, low-income residents.  LANC serves all 100 counties of North Carolina through 24 geographically located offices across the state.  The LANC-Smithfield Office serves clients in Harnett, Johnston and Sampson counties and is located at 300 South Third Street, Suite A in downtown Smithfield.
