Janeen Gingrich named development director for Legal Aid of North Carolina
May 6, 2009 MEDIA RELEASE
(Raleigh, NC) -
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
has named Janeen Gingrich of Durham as its development director.
In the newly created position, Gingrich will coordinate LANC's Access to
Justice Campaign, assist with endowment and resource development projects
and seek to broaden volunteer programs that enhance LANC's ability to provide
legal services to low-income people in North Carolina.
"I am truly honored to be a part of the talented Legal Aid of North Carolina
team," said Gingrich. "From mortgage foreclosure prevention to domestic
violence issues, it is well known that the attorneys at Legal Aid are committed
to providing legal services to those who need it the most. I am proud to
be asked to support their efforts to ensure equal access to justice."
LANC's Access to Justice Campaign is an annual fundraising drive
(December-May) that reaches out to the private bar, corporations and the
community to seek critical funds for support of LANC's efforts to provide legal
services in civil matters to more low-income families and individuals in North
Carolina.
Gingrich has held leadership positions in the public and nonprofits sector.
From 2004-2008, she served as the Director of Programming at the North Carolina
Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV), focusing on the expansion,
programming and staffing of its diversity-based work and the organization's
overall development. Previously Gingrich had served as a consultant to
NCCADV and was charged to help diversify NCCADV's funding and to double that
organization's budget and staff.
As the founder of Marquis-Duggan Non-Profit Solutions, LLC, Gingrich has worked
with nonprofits and public organizations to foster community support, increase
public awareness and leverage funding for work centered on social justice
issues. She has collaborated with many partners, including social service
groups, social justice agencies, private funders, foundations,
corporations, educational institutions and governmental agencies.
Gingrich has a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development with a
concentration in Women's Studies from Virginia Tech and a Masters degree in
Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC)
