Background:

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is seeking a Clerical Assistant/Paralegal to work in its Raleigh Office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons in Wake County of North Carolina.  LANC is a statewide, nonprofit [501(c)(3)] law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to those households whose income falls below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. 

Responsibilities & Duties:

Provide clerical and paralegal assistance for staff in Raleigh Office and also back-up receptionist for LANC Administrative Office when regular receptionist is not available; perform clerical/paralegal duties for legal staff;  process incoming and outgoing mail; refer ineligible clients to other sources for help; and perform other dues that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma; ability to use Microsoft Word; ability to speak Spanish preferred; experience working with low-income clients.

Salary:

$22,000+ DOE.  Excellent benefits package.  Relaxed office atmosphere.
