Client Community Service Award

The Client Community Service Award recognizes a legal aid client or low-income community leader in North Carolina who has provided extraordinary and dedicated service to the justice community and meets the following criteria: 

  (1) Extraordinary service to the equal justice community and to
       organizations that promote access to justice for low-income
       people in North Carolina;
  (2) Demonstrated leadership involving projects, activities
       and/or actions that effectively support and advance the
       legal aid community and low-income people in North Carolina;
       and
  (3) Significant volunteer efforts to encourage community
       partnerships, empower low-income people and remove
       legal barriers to economic opportunity in North Carolina. 

Selection of the Community Service Award recipient is approved by a committee appointed by the chair of the Legal Aid of NC Clients Council.

Presentation of the Client Community Service Award is typically made at the biennial North Carolina Legal Services Statewide Conference or as deemed appropriate by the Legal Aid of NC Clients Council.

This award was last presented in 2008 to Sarah Davis of Apex, NC at the 2008 NC Legal Services Statewide Conference.  Other recipients of this award have included:
