About

This CLE will focus on a ground-up advocacy for domestic violence survivors in obtaining a domestic violence protection order. We are thrilled to announce the featured speakers at our event: Wake County District Court Judge Margaret Eagles, Judge Ned Mangum and last but certainly not least Judge Christine Walczyk. "How to Represent a Domestic Violence Survivor in a DVPO Hearing" will provide background on domestic violence dynamics and an overview of NCGS Chapter 50B. We will then cover client interviews and prepping for court. Following a brief recess for food and beverages, we will be joined by three esteemed Wake County District Court Judges who will provide a judicial perspective on domestic violence cases. The final portion of the event will focus on trying Domestic Violence Protection Order cases and cover recent case law developments that impact DV advocacy. This training will be especially helpful for new attorneys and those seeking to bolster their trial advocacy experience.
