Representing the Child in a Contested Custody Action
This CLE will provide family law attorneys with the skills to represent children in high-conflict custody proceedings in family court, including working with a child, determining the child's wishes, developing the case for trial, and negotiating a settlement. The CLE will also give participants a view from the bench—via three of our family court judges in Wake Count who regularly appoint attorneys for children. To encourage participants to take a pro bono case, they will also hear from a seasoned pro bono attorney and her experiences representing children.
To register, contact Leslie at LeslieD@legalaidnc.org or 919 747-8495.
We ask that participants agree to accept one pro bono case from The Child’s Advocate, our project that represents children in high-conflict custody proceedings in Wake County.
